All Business is Show Business: Social Capital, Gendered Exploitation, Organizational Structure, and the Law in the #NotinOurHouse movement and the Chicago Theater Standards

Anna critically interrogates the Chicago Theatre Standards document and the movement of precarious theatre workers that led to its creation. Drawing on interviews with members of the theatre community in Chicago, a close analysis of the text itself, and literature in the sociology of law, Anna asks us to consider how movements for workplace protections from sexual harassment and discrimination come to take shape in and through a “legal consciousness.”
