Anti-Abortion Policies in Ceausescu’s Romania and Mussolini’s Italy

Alessandra's thesis explores how two different authoritarian regimes in Europe attempted to increased population levels by limiting access to abortion and other family planning services. Her project compares the similar effects of these policies in increasing maternal mortality rates and asks how both fascist and communist political affiliation nonetheless supported similar policies regarding pregnancy regulation.
